So, after a few years of thinking about, I took the plunge and decided to get an embroidery machine.
Frankly, and because I know he isn’t reading this, I had secretly hoped that Dennis would get me on for Christmas. Even though I told him it was too much money and we had the brand new roof to pay for, I was still hoping he’d say “Oh, she doesn’t mean that, I’m gettin’ one”.
He didn’t.
However, when he noticed me looking at websites and models in fabric stores, etc., I think he got the idea. Bless him, he jumped right in there with me and we started the hunt.
As cool as some of those machines are, I just refused to look at machines that were over $1,000. That limits your options right there. I wanted one with some flexibility. I wasn’t locked in to a sewing/embroidery combination or embroidery only machine. We went to one sewing shop where they made us feel like ‘commoners’ for not considering the $3,000 Janome. I’ve been in that shop many times before, I have never once left feeling like they weren’t looking down their noses at me. That could have offered to give me a machine and I wouldn’t have taken in.
Okay, that’s not true, but still, I wouldn’t have put any money in their pocket.
Anyhoo…..
We settled on the Singer Quantum Futura CE-200. It hooks up to your computer and gives the flexibility of tons of different formats. It’s a combination sewing and embroidery machine, plus it has the “hand quilt stitch” among the 129 stitches. My Brother PC-2800 does have that. That’s pretty exciting.
I recently upgraded my version of Electric Quilt. It comes with embroidery patterns now. I’ve purchased a rainbow of thread, I have my stabilizer. I’ll let you know if I figure out how to turn the blasted thing on.

If anyone has any tips, tricks or advice, leave me a comment. I could use the help! With Dennis getting me this and me getting him a woodturning lathe for Christmas, we probably won’t see each other for a while.
Perhaps I should embroider our names on our clothing?
