Clematis

Those are tomatoes on the top shelf.  I cannot raise the light unit any further.  On the second shelf, once in a while herbs like Chervil and Savory and Sage.  I need to get them harvested and drying, because I will never use that much Chervil if I live another 50 years.  Bottom shelf contains 7 basil plants of all varieties.  Not shown, the three plant mini-AeroGardens in the kitchen.  I can’t wait for it to warm up for outdoor gardening.

On another front: I got a request to upload the photos of our hand-built clay oven on the Flickr Wood Fired Oven group site, here.  Funny, they selected the photos of the big fire coming out of that sucker.  More pictures of that here.  It survived the winter pretty well, although we suffered a few cracks.  We’ll probably give it a light coat of clay this spring when it warms up some.  We’ve already cooked in it this year (roasted fennel and some fingerling potatos as well as baked a couple of loaves of bread) but nothing tasted as good as the first loaves of Naan bread we did last fall.

Off to watch 24, I am soooo disappointed in Tony.  Maybe try to knit on the Palindrome scarf a bit, but only until 24 gets interesting.  I can’t knit and watch TV at the same time.  Maybe someday.

I posted earlier that we had planted a veg garden this year.  The plants are doing great despite the hot weather, but we have also had quite a nice initial show from our flowering plants this month.

I love the first blooms of the year.

The wisteria we planted the first year we moved in bloomed a good year before it was supposed to.

We’re blessed with good soil – not green thumbs.  And boy, do we appreciate it.
