Views on Sandusky Bay

Dennis and I went out to Sandusky last weekend. Just across the water from Cedar Point. Here’s a few pictures we took in a small marina.

The Roses Are Going to Sleep

Northern Ohio has dipped below freezing three times (maybe four) in the last week. We’ve also had spitting snow a couple of days. Winter is coming. Today, Dennis is raking up leaves, moving some of the plants inside, and we’ll start coning roses – probably next weekend.

It’s past mid-November, and it’s time, but for the past several years, I’m always suprised when winter rolls around.

Fuel oil, house projects & mittens

Winter winds are whipping in Northwest Ohio. It was supposed to hit 23 degrees last night. The garden hoses are wound up and in the barn. The leaves are raked up and the roses will be coned soon.

That means house projects will be solely indoors from here on out. I started rejuvenating the finish on the stairs a couple of weeks ago. They need a couple more coats of shellac, and then I can start on the upstairs landing. The kitchen hasn’t made any progress since the appliances came in…so we certainly won’t be finished by Thanksgiving.
